A housebuilder in Coventry is helping a local charity transform its outdoor space to bring people together to discuss their mental health.
Redrow Midlands, which is building at Arden Fields on Bedworth Road, has donated £1,930 to Coventry, Warwickshire and Worcestershire Mind as part of its community fund. The initiative provides organisations with donations to help them thrive, with local causes encouraged to apply for their share of a £5,000 pot.
Coventry, Warwickshire and Worcestershire Mind is a charity that supports the wellbeing of those struggling with their mental health by providing quality services tailored to the needs of individual communities. This includes ensuring people have access to appropriate information or directing them to specialist care to improve their quality of life.
Using Redrow’s £1,930 donation, the charity has purchased a new pizza oven as part of a broader project to revamp an underused area of its allotment into a sensory garden space for connection through cooking and eating together. The space, located at Sherbourne Valley Allotments in Coventry, is set to open in January 2026.
Denise Lindsay, Project Support Manager at Coventry, Warwickshire and Worcestershire Mind, said: "We’re incredibly grateful to Redrow Midlands for this donation.
“It will make a real difference to our ecotherapy work at Sherbourne Valley Allotments in Coventry. Bringing people together is a key part of good mental health, and outdoor, food-based activities help people connect, build confidence and feel part of their community.
“The new pizza oven is a fantastic addition. It means we can cook and eat together using produce grown on the allotment, creating simple, meaningful moments that support wellbeing and help people feel less isolated.
“It provides a great opportunity to connect over food, while getting involved in the allotment, whether that’s through planting, harvesting, woodwork, craft or a variety of other therapeutic activities." Elaine Cartwright, Sales Director at Redrow Midlands, said: “We are delighted to be able to support Coventry, Warwickshire and Worcestershire Mind with our latest community fund donation.
“Building thriving communities means investing in local groups, and we are proud to support this charity and enable them to continue in their dedicated efforts to help those who need help with their mental health. We recognise the value that gathering with others can provide for community wellbeing, and we hope our donation ensures that many individuals can benefit from the charity’s newly revitalised outdoor space for years to come.”
