The Jamaica 0121 Festival returned to the centre of Birmingham, as hundreds of thousands gathered to celebrate 64 years of independence for the much-revered Caribbean enclave that’s growing global love just has now bounds.
During this year’s mostly free, family-friendly outdoor event in Victoria Square, in the centre of the city’s beating heart, it just proved again that “we little but we Talawa” – in every sense of that famed saying. Once again celebrating Jamaica’s rich cultural experience, live music, DJs, food drink and health and awareness stalls, with live music, a wide array of demonstrations was the order of this extended weekend, as its vibrancy highlighted the country’s influence in Birmingham’s (and the wider world’s) diversity.
This year’s mostly free outdoor event, featuring live music, performing artist and special guest speakers – including headliners Nadine Sutherland, Kofi, Audrea Scott, Junior Giscombe, Peter Spence, Yahmesha Mcleod, Gabbidon & Band, plus Maxwell D, with supporting artists like J Written, Dennis Lloyd, Alyshia Warren, Annette B, Rickeal : Andrea Rhoom, Sister Angie, Patricia DC, Wassifa, Xtac 4x4, Gemini Don, Pay As Go, Luv Music, One Ras, Father Hovis, Immortal Sound, Stone Heart, Host G Man, Mr Cee, Ranking Bev, Sandra B and Dondeman.
This was again the ultimate weekend, where Birmingham gathered as one to celebrate the very best of Jamaica!
