BBC to Shine a Spotlight on Worcester Cathedral’s Christmas Tree Festival 2026

BBC to Shine a Spotlight on Worcester Cathedral’s Christmas Tree Festival 2026

Worcester Cathedral have just announced that its popular Christmas Tree Festival will be featured by not one, but TWO BBC programmes this year.

On Thursday 26 November a crew from BBC The One Show will film a feature about the Christmas Tree Festival, which is scheduled to be broadcast on Monday 7 December. The following day, Friday 27 November, the Cathedral will welcome a crew from BBC Songs of Praise, who will be filming a feature exploring Christmas traditions for broadcast on Sunday 13 December.

Both production teams are hoping to meet tree holders with particularly interesting, unusual, heart-warming or quirky stories to tell, as well as those whose trees may be especially unique. The Songs of Praise team is particularly keen to hear from individuals or organisations with faith-based stories they would like to share.

Tree holders who have already signed up have been contacted to express an interest in being featured, but there are still a few spaces remaining for schools, charities, business and organisations to book their spot. There are also a number of Community Tree spaces still available to book – both teams are particularly keen to feature community tree holders in the broadcasts.

And there are still a small number of Dedication Trees available to book. Lynsey Breeze, Chief Operating Officer at Worcester Cathedral, said: “We are very excited to be welcoming two filming crews to feature our beautiful Christmas Tree Festival this year.

“It is such a special event to the people of Worcester and surrounding areas, we can’t wait to share it with a wider audience. Both of these features present a wonderful opportunity, not only for Worcester Cathedral, but also our tree holders to shine a spotlight on their business, organisation, school, community group, an individual, whoever they are, and the incredible work that they do all year round.

“We look forward to sharing some wonderful stories at this year’s Christmas Tree Festival!” Once participants have booked their tree, they are invited to email Worcester Cathedral with the subject line: BBC The One Show / Songs of Praise Filming Opportunity by 5pm on Friday 23 October 2026*, briefly describe their story, and the Cathedral team will then forward this onto the relevant production teams for consideration.

* By emailing to express an interest in taking part, participants are consenting to Worcester Cathedral sharing their contact details with BBC’s ‘The One Show’ and ‘Songs of Praise’.
