Tribute are being paid to a much-loved resident cat at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham, who was said to have passed away at the start of April.

Millie, who was around 20 years old, had been part of life at the stadium, in Birmingham, since 2009 and became a familiar and comforting presence to both staff and visitors over the years. She was well known around the site and had a real impact on those who spent time there.

Generations of children at the Gymnastics and Martial Arts Centre (GMAC) saw her every week and members of the Perry Fitness Centre grew used to seeing her as part of their daily routine. Staff and members often joked that she was one of the team, and she had a big presence around the Stadium, especially during the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Millie was very much part of the stadium environment, adding to her story as a long-standing and quietly iconic member of the venue. Many staff and customers formed a bond with her, and she will be deeply missed. Since sharing the news on social media, we’ve received many comments from customers and residents sharing their memories of Millie and how much she meant to them, which has been really special to see.
