Apprentice roles in bricklaying, joinery and groundworking are among the opportunities being offered by Bellway in its 2026 apprenticeship programme.
The company has launched its annual recruitment drive for the next generation of housebuilding talent as the country marks National Apprenticeship Week (February 9 to 15). Applications are now open for 38 apprentice roles across England, Scotland and Wales, covering a variety of specialisms including construction trades. Candidates have until Sunday 15 March to apply.
Opportunities for on-site trades roles include bricklaying in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Essex, and London; groundworking in Hertfordshire; and joinery in Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Bedfordshire, and Hertfordshire. Non-trade roles include six assistant site manager apprenticeships with the Wales, East Midlands, West Midlands, Northern Home Counties and Thames Valley divisions; and three customer care apprenticeships with Bellway’s Wales, Northern Home Counties and North London divisions.
Finley Wilkinson, 25, joined Bellway in 2016 on a four-year joinery apprenticeship. From there he went on to do the National House Building Council (NHBC) training to become an assistant site manager with Bellway’s East Midlands division.
Finley said: “All my family have been in construction all their lives and I wanted to follow in their footsteps.
“I’ve always been a ‘hands-on’ person. I enjoy being out there getting things done.” He said that Bellway is a company that people tend to stay with once they have joined, and he hopes to do the same adding: “It feels more like a family here, and everybody helps everyone out.”
Laura Cooper, Head of Learning and Organisational Development at Bellway, said: “Developing highly qualified people who can do the skilled work required to build homes is essential for the future of the industry so that it can deliver the high-quality housing that the country needs.
“An apprenticeship with Bellway is a valuable opportunity to build a career with one of the country’s largest housebuilders. The programme allows learners to develop their skills and ultimately become expert, accomplished, and confident in what they do – all while earning money and gaining first-hand experience of the industry.
“Bellway is committed to being an employer of choice and that means giving our people the opportunities and the support they require to develop and progress. We are looking for highly motivated people who want to grow and learn.
Whether you are a school leaver, or someone who is already in the workforce and looking to pivot towards a new industry or a new type of skill, we want to hear from you.” Apprenticeships at Bellway divisions in the Midlands, South of England, and Wales are:
