New interactive trivia app launched to test users’ cultural knowledge

A new trivia app is putting Black cultural knowledge to the test, as Wilmington, U.S.A. entrepreneur Leonard Young, founder of DelawareBlack.com and NationalBlackGuide.com LLC, launches ‘CultureCheck.’

An interactive Black culture trivia platform, it features more than 15,000 questions covering history, music, sports, entertainment, politics, business, HBCUs, faith, entrepreneurship, and more. CultureCheck officially launched in the Apple App Store on August 24 , with Android users able to play directly through their web browsers (at CultureCheckApp.com) without downloading an app.

Since its launch, it has reached No.3 in Apple App Store search results for “Black Trivia,” marking an early milestone for the growing platform. The concept centres on a simple question: How well do you really know Black culture?

Players can choose from dozens of trivia packs across 11 categories, with quick quizzes designed to combine competition with learning. Questions include explanations that provide additional cultural context, while scores and leader boards allow players to compete against others.

One of the app’s signature features is CultureCheck100, a 100-question challenge covering multiple areas of Black culture. Players have 18 minutes to complete the challenge and earn a score they can compare with other CultureCheck players on the leader board.

For those looking for a shorter game, individual trivia packs offer quick 10-question rounds covering specific subjects and areas of Black culture. CultureCheck also features special CultureChallenges, four-minute trivia experiences that can be connected to holidays, historic moments, awareness campaigns and community partnerships, and is an ideal gift for anyone celebrating something, especially during this Black History Month in the UK.

A ‘Question of the Day’ gives players another opportunity to test their knowledge each day. Young has spent approximately two decades building digital platforms focused on Black communities through NationalBlackGuide.com and related media properties.

CultureCheck expands that work into mobile technology and gaming. He said: “CultureCheck was created to make cultural knowledge fun, accessible and competitive.

“We wanted to build something people could enjoy while learning something new and pushing themselves along the way.” The platform is operated by NBG Mobile Apps, LLC, Young’s digital media and mobile app company focused on culture, community, education, and engagement.

CultureCheck includes both free and premium trivia content, with new trivia packs being added regularly. Planned future updates include global leader boards, achievement badges, and group tournament play.
