A £1.6million package of improvements to key walking routes ahead of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games has been confirmed by the council.

It has been announced that former Coventry City manager John Sillett, who guided the club to FA Cup victory in 1987, has died. He managed the Sky Blues between 1986-90 and was at the helm when the club beat Tottenham 3-2 in the final at Wembley for their first major trophy.

Sir Frank Williams, founder and former team principal of the Williams Racing Formula 1 team, has died.

He built the team named after him into one of the most successful in the sport. During his time with Williams, the team won nine constructors' championships and seven drivers' titles, and dominated much of the 1980s and 1990s.

Wolverhampton Wanderers under-18 defender Kamran Kandola has just been rewarded for his development, commitment and work ethic having progressed through his hometown club’s Academy by signing his first professional contract. The Wolverhampton-born centre-back has spent the last decade at the Academy where he has progressed throughout the age groups to become a regular at under-18 level.

UK Athletics is pleased to confirm that Cherry Alexander OBE is re-joining the organisation as the UK Athletics Major Events and International Relations Lead.
