The cathedral city of St Albans will be taken over by Creepers, Endermans and Mobs during a free family street festival in June, which will see the city transformed into a world on Minecraft. The Alban Street Festival on 19 June will be hosting what is thought to be the UK's first street Minecraft Hackathon, which will see the cathedral city – originally the Roman town of Verulamium – and some of its historic buildings that date back over 2,000 years brought together in a Minecraft World by new digital network Silicon Abbey.

Gamer Network has revealed the fantastic feedback received from its EGX Rezzed attendee survey, further solidifying its position as London’s premier games event. More than 15,000 enthusiastic gamers joined over 100 exhibitors at the historic Tobacco Dock in East London from the 7th-9th April to celebrate the best of gaming from around the world.

InnoGames held its second charity fund raising event this past weekend dedicated to the often overlooked art behind games. The art exhibition, which took place on April 16^th in the company’s Hamburg headquarters, included a silent auction, where the public could bid on private art collections, as well as concepts from InnoGames’ own studios, and attend workshops lead by InnoGames artists. All proceeds from the event will go to Gaming Aid Initiative.

Less than a week ago, Gfinity launched Tournament Builder for Xbox One. Tens of thousands of gamers have already downloaded the app and are setting up their own tournaments. Britain’s biggest consumer tech show – Gadget Show Live – announced the results of a poll, held in conjunction with Visit Birmingham, to find the region’s most important inventions from times gone by.  The winners include the pacemaker, the pen and the kettle. To mark the event, a commemorative plaque has been unveiled by Jon Bentley at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, home of the Lucas Abrams Pacemaker.
