Business owners from Ethnic Minority backgrounds are still having to “smash through barriers” to access the networks and capital to help them succeed, a leading entrepreneur has warned. Speaking ahead of her keynote speech at next week’s Birmingham Black Business Show (BBBS) Daniella Genas, says shifting your mindset can help overcome any challenge.

Ms Genas, a business coach and the founder of Be the Boss, said: “The sad fact is that there are still far too many negative stereotypes about black owned businesses from inside and outside of the community.

“We still don’t have the same access to networks and capital.  It’s not a level playing field, but I am really keen to make sure everyone and anyone launching a business from a BAME background isn’t put off.

“By developing a strong mindset, implementing a solid plan and structure and striving for excellence, you can smash through...and succeed.

“That's why I am really looking forward to being a part of the Birmingham Black Business Show both to share my own story and to meet other entrepreneurs to hear about their experiences and their own journeys.”

Ahead of next week’s show’ at the Birmingham NEC, Daniella will also be hosting a Founders Network Dinner for members of the Be The Boss Community.

Explaining why those events are so important to her, Ms Genas added: “As an entrepreneur, it's easy to feel isolated and like you're on your own. But at Founders Network events, people discover the power of community and how it can support them on their entrepreneurial journey.”

As well as giving the keynote speech at the BBBS on June 17, Daniella will be providing advice in the business hub. She will also be hosting a Scale Up Sessions for companies with a turnover of £85k+

Next week’s show is aimed at start-ups & entrepreneurs looking to hear from industry leaders. It offers the chance to listen to the hottest tips, practical skills, and networking opportunities to grow your business. Organisers say the show is the perfect chance to gain practical skills, make invaluable connections, and take the first step toward achieving your career goals.
