ScottishPower has been named Investor of the Year at the British Business Awards, recognising the company’s record £24 billion investment in the UK’s clean energy future.
The huge growth drive is seeing more projects than ever before to rewire Britain and build the green renewable power needed to wean the UK of fossil fuels. It includes the multi-billion-pound Eastern Link projects off the east coast and two of the largest offshore windfarms in the world under construction off the coast of East Anglia. The award comes a year after its Chief Executive Keith Anderson was named Business Leader of the Year, recognising his strategic and consistent leadership and impact across the UK business community.
The British Business Award judges praised ScottishPower for its sustained, long‑term investment strategy, particularly in renewable energy, electricity networks and infrastructure needed to support clean power, lower bills over time and strengthen resilience across the energy system. Keith Anderson, ScottishPower Chief Executive, said: “We’re investing at a rate of knots to electrify the UK, that means billions being spent in the supply chain and thousands of jobs being created.

The legacy of this work will be the modern, clean electricity infrastructure the UK needs to drive its economy for the decades to come, and it’s a privilege to play a part in this moment in history.” ScottishPower continues to accelerate investment across transmission and distribution networks and renewables, supporting thousands of jobs across the UK and enabling the transition to cleaner, more secure energy.
The British Business Awards celebrate excellence across UK industry, recognising companies that demonstrate leadership, innovation and long‑term value creation. George Clooney, Bob Geldof and hosts, Rob Brydon and Elaine C Smith, joined business leaders to help raise over £1 million for homelessness charity Social Bite. All 150 companies shortlisted this year were independently evaluated across five core pillars: business performance, innovation, workforce and culture, customer impact, and contribution to society and the wider economy.
The highest performing businesses across all categories were then selected to be awarded by 18 key figures from British industry, chaired by the former CEO of Unilever, Alan Jope CBE, and Emma Crystal, CEO of Coutts Bank. Josh Littlejohn, founding partner of the British Business Awards said: “The huge turnout to the awards is testament to the strength in the business community, and the extremely high standard of the winners speaks to the strength and bright future of our economy.” Alan Jope CBE, Chair of the judging panel, said: “Congratulations to all the winners!
