The British Basketball Cup Finals, one of the sport’s biggest events of the year, will be returning to Birmingham for its historic 20th edition.

Following the tremendous success of the 2022 Cup Finals, which saw Leicester Riders and London Lions collect trophy honours in front of record-breaking crowds for both games, the Cup Finals will return to the Utilita Arena Birmingham on Sunday 29 January 2023, the same arena where the inaugural Cup Final was held.

The event will mark the 19th time the BBL Cup Final has been held at the arena, with the only other time being held in Leicester due to the pandemic. It’ll also be the sixth time the WBBL Cup Final has been held at the arena.

“We are beyond delighted to return to Utilita Arena Birmingham for our 20th annual Cup Final,” said Andy Webb, BBL’s Chief Operating Officer. “Birmingham has very much become ‘home’ for the Cup Finals over the years and to see the growth of the event, and league itself, from the inaugural final in 2004 to now is absolutely remarkable.”

Up to 6,000 and 10,000 fans crammed Utilita Arena Birmingham back in January, for the WBBL and BBL Cup Finals respectively, with it also marking the first major Final to be held in front of full fan capacity since the start of the pandemic. With demand for British Basketball sky-high, tickets for the 2023 Cup Finals are set for Pre-Sale on Monday 28th February followed by the General On Sale on Monday 14th March 2022.

“The 2022 British Basketball Cup Finals were an extraordinary success, and we cannot wait to return for the 2023 Final to continue to showcase the best of British basketball.” Andy Webb added. In between the men’s and women’s finals, fans will also be treated to the return of the Slam Dunk Contest, as well as plenty of entertainment, music, and interaction alongside the basketball itself.
