Tottenham Hotspur FC, Newcastle United FC and Arsenal Women FC will make their way to Melbourne, Australia, for a series of international football club matches next month.
This is the perfect opportunity for football and sports fans to explore and enjoy the many attractions and experiences Melbourne, the sporting capital of Australia, and the state of Victoria have to offer. The first match will have Tottenham Hotspur FC play off against Newcastle United FC on Wednesday, 22 May, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), a cultural icon and one of the most recognised cricket grounds in the world, with a massive seating capacity of 100,000.
This will be followed by two matches on Friday 24 May at Marvel Stadium, a 55,000 multi-purpose venue catered to host multiple sports. The first of two matches will have three-time Women’s Super League champions, Arsenal Women take on the A League All Stars Women. The latter match will be Newcastle United FC’s second appearance against the A League All Stars Men.
The upcoming ‘English football frenzy’ matches are a great addition to Melbourne and Victoria’s packed calendar of major sporting events for 2024 and 2025. These include Bells Beach Longboard Classic (July 2024), Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix in Phillip Island (October 2024), Melbourne Cup Carnival (November 2024), Boxing Day Test (December 2024), Australian Open (January 2025) and the British and Irish Lions Tour 2025 vs Wallabies (July 2025).
